 Coach Pete's passion for the game and specifically working with goaltenders and developing the position. Pete grew up on Cape Cod and was raised in the local rinks, playing youth hockey for Cape Cod Canal, Hobomock Chiefs, and Plymouth County All-Stars before playing for Sandwich High School, Williston Northampton Prep School, and college at the University of Southern Maine. While he still enjoys putting on the pads and playing in local men’s leagues, Pete has developed a passion for coaching and developing players. Pete is a Level 4 USA Hockey Certified Coach with a Bronze Certification in Goaltending. His Coaching experience includes Goalie Coach at St. John Paul II (2020 – current), FYH Goalie Development Coordinator (2017 - current), FYH Goalie Coach (2017 – current), and FYH Coach at the U8 and U10 levels for the past six years. Pete is excited to join the East Coast Thunder Hockey Club and bring his hockey passion to the program.

Coach Tavano is a native of Harwich. He grew up playing in the Lower Cape Youth Hockey program and graduated from Harwich High School in 1999 where he was a four-year varsity hockey player and the Captain during his senior year. Coach Tavano was a three-sport athlete, and in addition to hockey, played varsity soccer and baseball. After graduating from Hamilton College, he spent a brief time in Boston before returning home to the Cape to begin a firefighting career and currently serves as a Deputy Fire Chief. Over the past 16 years, Coach Tavano has coached at the high school level at Harwich High School and Nauset High School and has coached multiple youth levels from Learn to Play to Peewee. He has also coached little league baseball for a number of years. Coach Tavano brings a great passion for the game and for using sports to help young athletes develop resiliency and a positive work ethic that will translate into the classroom and the workforce as the athletes become young adults.
